India creates history at TrendVision Awards

Lalruattluanga becomes the first Indian to win the Color Visionary title at Wella Professionals International TrendVision Awards 2024–25. His evocative Golden Hour creation wowed judges at the grand finale in Malta, shining a global spotlight on Indian hair artistry.

In a historic achievement for Indian hairdressing, Shillong-based stylist Lalruattluanga clinched the prestigious Color Visionary title at the Wella Professionals International TrendVision Awards 2024–25 Grand Finale held in Malta. This marks the first time an Indian artist has won a global title at the elite competition, solidifying India’s place on the world hairdressing map.

The grand finale was part of Destination 2025, a three-day extravaganza celebrating creativity and innovation in the salon industry. The event drew over 1,000 stylists and Wella ambassadors from 52 countries, showcasing the global reach and collaborative spirit of the Wella Professionals network.

Lalruattluanga’s journey to Malta began at the India national finals, hosted in New Delhi. Selected from among over 66,000 entries nationwide, he emerged as one of the winners under the colour category. At the international level, his work stood out for its exceptional technique, artistic finesse and emotional depth.

A VISUAL DELIGHT

Inspired by Shillong’s serene golden sunsets, his entry interpreted the 2024–25 theme ‘Golden Hour’ through warm, blended highlights and soft root shadows using Wella Professionals Koleston Perfect Me+. His colour story captured the reflective calm of dusk—an artistic nod to endings, transitions and hope.

“The Golden Hour reminds us to pause and find peace, that even at the end of a long day, beauty remains,” said Lalruattluanga. “Through my work, I wanted to capture that feeling and reflect it in every strand. In those fleeting moments, when the sky glows warm and golden, there’s a sense of calm that wraps around you… I tried to translate that emotion into hair, turning a visual moment into a lasting impression.”

ROOTING FOR TEAM INDIA

Pravesh Saha, General Manager, Wella India & South Asia, hailed the win as a turning point for India’s salon industry.

“Lalruattluanga’s win marks a historic milestone for India’s hairdressing industry… It’s not just a personal victory, but a moment of pride for the entire country. His achievement puts India firmly on the global map of hair artistry and is a powerful reminder of the extraordinary talent rooted in our diverse regions,” said Saha.

Hosted annually by Wella Professionals, the TrendVision Awards honour innovation, skill and vision in hairdressing. The 2025 edition’s theme encouraged artists to explore moments of transformation through colour.

This landmark victory reflects Wella Professionals’ ongoing commitment to empowering talent across regions through cutting-edge education, international exposure and a platform for bold, creative expression.
