Dear Readers, For years, the beauty and wellness industry spoke to women almost instinctively. Men, meanwhile, were often an afterthought. But the man in your chair is changing, and changing quickly.
The male customer walking into your salon, spa, or wellness centre today is not necessarily looking for a “men’s grooming” experience. He may be looking for help with acne, pigmentation, ageing skin, hair loss, or simply wanting to look and feel better. He is researching products, understanding ingredients, and becoming increasingly discerning about where he spends his time and money.
The opportunity for our industry is significant, but meeting this customer does not necessarily require reinventing the wheel. It requires listening. Men tend to appreciate directness. Tell them what the concern is, what you recommend, why it will work, and what they can expect. No complicated jargon, no unnecessary rituals, just good advice and visible results.
Products are already evolving to meet this consumer. Now our services need to do the same. Salons, spas, and the industry have an opportunity to create experiences that recognise men as an important, growing customer base, rather than treating them as an add-on.
And these are the conversations we explore in this Men’s Edit of PBHJ. From formulations that address real concerns to treatments and experiences designed around the way men are living today, this issue looks at where the male beauty and wellness consumer is headed, and where the industry needs to go with him.
Because the message is simple: men are no longer waiting to be invited into beauty and wellness. They are already here. The opportunity now is to understand them better, serve them smarter, and give them every reason to come back.
