Makeup SOS

From foundation mishaps to runaway mascara, certain makeup faux pas can ruin your hard work. We bring you smart fixes to help save the day.

1. Fix that base

✖ Foundation looks uneven, clinging to dry spots.

✔ Mist the face with a hydrating spray, then press a damp sponge to blend and smooth without layering on more product.

2. Creased concealer

✖ Concealer settles into fine lines under the eyes.

✔ Gently tap out the creases with a clean fingertip, then set lightly with a finely milled translucent powder.

3. Overdrawn brows

✖ Brows look harsh or too dark.

✔ Brush through with a spoolie dipped in a bit of loose powder to soften and diffuse the lines.

4. Blush overload

✖ Too much blush = clownish look.

✔ Buff over with a clean powder brush or sheer out with a touch of pressed powder to tone down intensity.

5. Cakey effect

✖ Face looks flat and heavy after powdering.

✔ Spritz a setting spray or thermal water to melt the powder into skin, restoring natural dimension.

6. Runaway mascara

✖ Mascara smudges under eyes mid-event.

✔ Use a cotton bud dipped in micellar water to clean, then pat a touch of powder under the eyes to lock in place.

7. Uneven liner

✖ Winged eyeliner looks mismatched.

✔ Even out with a pointed cotton bud dipped in micellar water, then sharpen edges using concealer on a fine brush.

8. Bleeding lipstick

✖ Lip colour leaks beyond the lip line.

✔ Dab concealer around the lips with a small brush and reapply lipstick with a liner for crisp definition.

9. Eyeshadow fallout

✖ Glitter or pigment drops onto cheeks.

✔ Sweep away with a fluffy brush dipped in loose powder—never rub! Refresh the skin with a light setting mist.

10. Mismatched neck

✖ Foundation shade looks perfect on the face but doesn’t match the neck.

✔ Blend leftover foundation down the neck or add a bit of bronzer to balance out the tones seamlessly.
