Editor's letter
Dear Reader,
As we celebrate April as Earth Month, it’s time to reflect on our collective responsibility towards the planet—and how the salon industry can lead by example. In a country like India, where resource conservation is not just important but essential, sustainability in salons is no longer a trend—it’s a necessity. This month’s cover story spotlights the inspiring strides that salons across India are making on the green path.
From switching to vegan, cruelty-free products to rethinking infrastructure with water-saving systems and energy-efficient lighting, the change is real and growing. But the journey isn’t without its challenges. High costs, client resistance and limited availability of green products still persist. Yet, small, consistent steps—from staff education to waste segregation—are already creating impact.
This Earth Month, we urge our readers to embrace sustainability not as a one-off gesture, but as an ongoing commitment to our environment and future generations. Let’s make salons not just places of beauty, but beacons of change.
