From a beauty school in Mumbai to the deck of a luxury cruise liner, aesthetician Simran Khairnar’s inspiring journey is marked by passion and persistence, finds out Priyanka Parshurami.

When ambition meets passion, boundaries become meaningless. Our Young Gun for the month, Simran Khairnar, proved this maxim with her achievements as a beauty expert. Starting off as a fresh salon graduate from LTA School of Beauty, Khairnar worked with dedication to become an award-winning aesthetician and landed a placement on a luxury cruise liner. Sheer determination and continued upskilling put her into a rewarding career in the international beauty industry.

Khairnar’s fascination for beauty stemmed from her desire to enhance people’s confidence and well-being. After completing her beauty therapy course, she started working in a salon, mastering treatments such as facials, body massages and nail care. A colleague’s experience on a cruise ship sparked her interest in international opportunities, leading her to apply to OneSpaWorld. After a rigorous selection process, she secured the position of an aesthetician on a luxury cruise liner.

STRONG FOUNDATION

Khairnar credits LTA School of Beauty for providing her with a strong foundation in beauty therapy. The hands-on training and expert guidance that she got from her trainers there, helped her develop the skills and confidence to meet industry standards, and face the challenges that life at sea brings. She was the recipient of the Best Job Achieving Student at the academy.

Adapting to confined living quarters, different time zones and high client expectations were some of the challenges that Kharinar faced aboard the cruise liner. However, these experiences strengthened her resilience and her resolve to provide exceptional services. Her dedication was recognised with the Outstanding Performance Award by OneSpaWorld, which proved to be a milestone in her career.

For Khairnar, a typical day on the cruise liner begins with a team meeting, followed by delivering personalised treatments such as facials and body massages to the elite clients onboard. She has discovered that engaging with clients from different backgrounds has broadened her perspective and refined her skills.

ASPIRATION + AMBITION = PASSION

Today, the beauty industry is booming with many young aspirants aiming to become beauty professionals. “Remain open-minded, develop strong communication skills and gain salon experience before applying for international roles.
