WELLA PROFESSIONALS’ TRENDVISION 2024-25

Wella Professionals brought back its much-awaited platform for hairstylists — TrendVision 2024-25, setting the stage for exceptional artistry, innovation and creativity. This year’s event promises to elevate professional hairdressing to unprecedented heights, offering a springboard for seasoned experts and fresh talent alike.

From 66,000 entries nationwide, only 60 talented participants were shortlisted to compete across various categories. These creative powerhouses gathered in Goa to learn and to celebrate the second round of TrendVision 2024-25. The Look and Learn Styling Workshop led by industry veterans, offered participants cutting-edge techniques and insights that will shape their journey through the competition.

The highlight of the second round was its compelling theme, ARTspiration, which challenged contestants to draw inspiration from art. With the five elements of nature serving as guiding forces, hairstylists are encouraged to push the limits of their imagination and craft transformative masterpieces.

The journey continues as semi-finalists prepare to compete in Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai throughout early February. From these fierce regional battles, only the best will advance to the highly anticipated finale, where the next wave of hairdressing brilliance will be crowned.

OLAPLEX CURL COLLECTION

Evening sea breeze and happy curls were the highlight of the launch of Curl Collection by Olaplex. Introduced and distributed by Streamline Beauty, led by Aankith Aroraa, the Olaplex Curl Collection brings together years of research and the brand’s signature bond-building expertise to address the unique needs of waves, curls and coils. The Collection includes the Bond Shaper Curl Rebuilding Treatment and the No 10 Bond Shaper Curl Defining Gel. By strengthening the critical disulfide bonds while infusing strands with nourishing coconut-avocado hair milk, the treatment ensures curls stay defined and healthy through 15 washes. The gel has a unique blend of flexible polymers and plant collagen creates a protective barrier against humidity, ensuring curls stay defined and bouncy for up to 72 hours without feeling sticky or stiff.

Streamline Beauty hosted a panel discussion with curlyhaired celebrities and hairstylists to get insights on the challenges of maintaining curly hair. The event also saw hairstylists, salon owners, beauty influencers and members of the media interacting with the Olaplex trainers and its international representatives.

FHAIR BY FLORIAN HUREL

Celebrity hairstylist Florian Hurel recently launched his first-ever haircare range fHair -made in India for the World. At a dazzling event at his salon Florian Hurel Hair Couture and Spa, Bandra, he hosted haircare aficionados and gave them an opportunity to experience his haircare range, which is a blend of high-quality ingredients with performance, free from harsh chemicals.

More than just a beauty brand, fHair represents individuality and sophistication, offering cutting-edge formulations infused with Hurel’s signature glamour. While interacting with PBHJ, he said he aims to fill the gap in luxury haircare and give people the power to have healthy hair every day.

The first edition of fHair’s range includes the Day to Day Care, Volume Up, Color Longevity, Sensitively Scalp shampoos and conditioners. Hurel has designed the bottles himself, and the packaging reflects the aesthetics of the salon, making fHair the perfect companion for those who like to indulge in luxurious haircare routines.

GLAM’S BRAND NEW STORE

Ubaid Dandekar and the team of R Lounge played the proud hosts as they opened their newest store for Glam’s nail products. Nestled on the first level of Swastik Chambers near Crawford Market, Mumbai, the new Glam store is one of the largest in the country catering to the needs of professional nail technicians. It houses the extensive range of nail art products, and will serve as a distribution point for the brand’s pan-India sales. Key salon accounts, industry influencers, media and family members were present at the launch. Apart from retail counters and meeting rooms, the store also has a nook dedicated to Dandekar’s journey in the world of nails, featuring the two-wheeler and mobile phone he used to start his business with, alongside photographs of milestone events.

The launch event was also attended by Dipika Parihar, Academy Head, Nail Art School, and Dana Dance, Professional Nail Trainer and Founder of Dana Beauty Academy and Shop, UK. Dance is also the artistic brand ambassador and international trainer for Glam in India. She will be part of an on-going series of masterclasses for the brand.

SCHWARZKOPF PROFESSIONAL SPARKS DIALOGUE AT THE PRO HAIR KOLLEKTIV

On 7th February 2025, Schwarzkopf Professional launched The Pro Hair Kollektiv at St. Regis, Mumbai. This exclusive platform brought together industry leaders to discuss the future of hairdressing, focusing on education, collaboration, and innovation.

Moderated by Sandhya Chipalkatti, Editor-in-Chief, StyleSpeak. It featured esteemed panelists: Spoorthy Shetty, CEO & Director, BBlunt; Vikram Bhatt, Co-Founder and Director – Growth & Strategy, Enrich; Vaishakhi Haria, Founder, Splash Salons, Co-founder, Very V Salon, and Educator & HAK Meister for Schwarzkopf Professional; and Samir Srivastav, CEO, Looks Salons. Kartik Kaushik, Country Head, Henkel Consumer Brands – India & South Asia, emphasised Schwarzkopf Professional’s commitment to empowering hair professionals through knowledge-sharing and skill development.

The discussion underscored the need for standardised education to elevate industry standards. Sandhya Chipalkatti highlighted that structured training is essential for nurturing talent and ensuring consistency across salons. Vikram Bhatt stressed that education builds confidence and professionalism, while Vaishakhi Haria noted that a well-trained stylist prioritises ethics over sales.

Samir Srivastav linked expertise to premium pricing, stating that mastery comes from rigorous training, not shortcuts. Spoorthy Shetty emphasised hiring individuals with a growth mindset rather than just chasing top talent. She challenged the industry to shift from merely recruiting talent to cultivating a culture of continuous learning. Key takeaways from the panel included:

CAVINKARE OPENS PROEDGE ACADEMY

CavinKare has opened its ProEdge Academy, which houses Indica Professional, Krone Professional and Raaga Professional, at Saki Naka, Andheri, in Mumbai, for skill development and advanced training in hair and skin. The launch event was attended by Ashrit Pattnaik, Vice President-Sales and Marketing, Cavinkare; Sareena Acharya, National Trainer and Education Head; and Nikisha Bhatia, Artistic Brand Ambassador, along with members of the media and the CavinKare technical team. The ProEdge Academy is designed to offer advanced training to hairdressers and skin therapists as well as basic training for beauty aspirants.

SUNNY HAIRPORT ARRIVES IN MUMBAI

Delhi’s much-loved hair transformer – Sunny Hairport – is now in Mumbai. The spacious new outlet of Sunny Hairport has opened at the prime location of Waterfield Road in Bandra. The salon is spread across two floors with ample space for hair stations and backwash areas. It houses international hair brands and caters to haircare, colouring and styling needs of its discerning clients. Sunny, known for his amazing colour transformations, is focussed on offering an extensive hair service menu to his customers with his team that he has trained and mentored. In an exclusive interaction with PBHJ India, Sunny mentioned that opening a salon in India was a spur-of-the-moment decision for him. He was advised by a client to open a salon in this location even as his loyal customers were encouraging him to start a brand in Mumbai. Sunny will ensure that his salons in both Mumbai and Delhi will have his personal attention and high standards of service.

KÉRASTASE AND SONAM KAPOOR LAUNCH THE NEW ELIXIR ULTIME

True to its philosophy of #youdarewecare, Kérastase continues its legacy of innovation with this latest launch, the new Elixir Ultime. The highlight of the launch event was Kérastase’s Indian brand ambassador Sonam Kapoor. She said, “I believe strongly in investing in good products and in self-care. IKONIC PROFESSIONAL AS STYLING PARTNER AT ELLE GRADUATES 2024

IKONIC Professional brought an added touch of sophistication to ELLE Graduates 2024 as the official hairstyling partner. The brand played a pivotal role backstage, ensuring every runway look was executed flawlessly. Expert stylists used IKONIC’s premium hair dryers, straighteners, curlers and combs to craft trendsetting hairstyles that seamlessly complemented the designers’ creative visions.

Beyond hairstyling excellence, IKONIC Professional further solidified its presence by presenting a prestigious award, underscoring its commitment to the fashion and beauty industry. V-DAY CAMPAIGN BY ESSKAY BEAUTY

This Valentine’s season, a heartfelt campaign, ‘Pampering Those Who Pamper Us,’ was launched by Esskay Beauty to honour salon professionals, the oftenunrecognised heroes of the beauty industry. While they dedicate their time to enhancing others’ looks and confidence, this initiative turned the focus on them.

Through personalised skincare treats and luxurious grooming sessions, these professionals were given the pampering they truly deserve. The campaign highlighted the essence of gratitude, care and appreciation, ensuring they felt valued and celebrated. By recognising their dedication, this initiative reinforced the importance of self-care for those who make beauty possible every day.

SALOON BEAUTY PARLOUR ASSOCIATION CELEBRATE EDUCATION

The Saloon Beauty Parlour Association of Maharashtra welcomed hairdressers, beauty therapists and salon owners to highly engaging look and learn sessions at their Lucky Draw 2025 seminar. The day started with the lamp lighting ceremony by founding members Datta Chavan and Uday Takke along with industry veterans such as Harish Bhatia, Shyam Bhatia, Harshada Takke, Bharti Didi, Rayed Merchant and many others.

Renowned artists such as Atharva Takke, representing Ikonic Professional, Leena Khandekar, representing Olivia, and representing Gatsby, took to the stage for look and learn session on hair, skin and men’s styling respectively.

Uday Takke, along with Prasad Chavan, Maharashtra President, and Tushar Chavan, Mumbai President of the Association felicitated Professional Beauty India at the event.
